Emma Wright wins recognition at East Midlands Care Awards

Emma Wright, a dedicated carer at Caremark Northampton, has received a Highly Commended award under the ÁÕÀÅÊÓƵ Care Carer of the Year category at the East Midlands Care Awards.

Emma's commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality care to her clients showcases the best of what social care professionals can achieve. Her tireless dedication, empathy, and professionalism have made a significant difference in the lives of those drawing on her care and support.

Sarah Taylor-Jackson, Registered Care Manager at Caremark Northampton said:

Emma's award is a tribute to the passion and hard work she brings to her role every day. She is a shining example of the exceptional care standards we strive for at Caremark Northampton.

Dean’s remarkable career progression at National Care Group

National Care Group are celebrating the outstanding achievements of support worker Dean Davies. In a matter of months, he has flourished and made a huge impact on the people he supports and his colleagues.

Dean joined National Care Group’s Endurance Care Worcestershire service last year with no formal experience working in health and social care. He had been out of work for many years due to his commitments as a single dad to his children, who also have some complex needs.

When Dean joined National Care Group, he felt the time was right to bring his personal experiences to a social care role and was keen to make a positive impact on the lives of people with health and social care needs. It was immediately clear that all of the people Dean works with liked his calming influence, sense of humour, and naturally caring nature.

Dean completed his care certificate with flying colours and, with his knowledge from personal experiences and passion for the role, quickly began acting as a shift leader. He arranges exciting activities for the people we support, such as arts and crafts, and baking. He also comes up with ideas to increase their access to the community and develop independent living skills.

Dean’s remarkable achievements haven’t gone unnoticed by his colleagues. A couple of months after starting his role, he was presented with an ‘Outstanding Achievement Award’ by National Care Group. The company’s awards recognise colleagues that go above and beyond their roles to make amazing happen for the people we support or their fellow team members.

Kelly Smith, Registered Manager at National Care Group’s Endurance Care Worcestershire, said:

I am so proud of Dean! During his interview, I knew there and then that he would do well due to how passionately he spoke about personal situations and managing them. He has such a unique stance on things and provides real insight and understanding resulting in great ideas and approaches.

Dean takes in everything that he learns in training and while on shift. It’s interesting to talk to him in depth about things such as positive behaviour support during challenging situations, or new people I’m assessing as he is so keen to learn and input with such wonderful ideas and a positive outlook.

I’m excited to see what the future holds for Dean!

The team of nurses and carers at Thornhill House are delighted to have received a Derbyshire End of Life Quality Care Award.

Deputy manager Pauline, with support from her manager and staff team, instigated the application for the award.

Assessment for the award includes completion of a supportive palliative care register, providing evidence of how deaths have been managed in the home and post-death analysis.

Going forward, the end of life care provided by Thornhill House will be reviewed every three months by the awarding assessment team.

The assessors gave positive feedback on the information leaflet for relatives written by the manager and deputy manager and have taken that and an end of life care plan to use as examples.

Receiving the award has given recognition of the standard of end of life care at Thornhill House which has been rewarding for the staff and reassuring to residents and their families.

The ongoing assessment is an incentive to maintain standards and motivation to further develop this specialist interest.

Thornhill House say the most valued support and recognition comes from the families and friends of their residents, for example:

I feel that living at Thornhill House for the last few months of her life was the best place Mum could have been.

Thank you for taking such loving care of Mum during the last few weeks of her life. It has meant the world to us knowing she has been safe, comfortable and cared for by such a lovely team of people.

To sum up this company I would say that they are absolutely amazing.
