This Good News Friday we hear from Bowfell House about their incredible award win at the Caring UK Awards, scooping the award for Care ÁÕÀÅÊÓƵ of the Year in the North.

The Caring UK awards were established to showcase the outstanding work happening in health and social care.

The team at Bowfell House were absolutely delighted to be shortlisted for two of these awards this year.

With over 3000 nominations and only seven organisation shortlisted in each category, the Bowfell House team said they already felt like winners when they arrived at the event at the Athena, Leicester on 1 December.

And they were winners indeed when they were awarded with the Care ÁÕÀÅÊÓƵ of the Year in the North title.

Claire Callaghan, Registered Manager at Bowfell House says:

We were absolutely thrilled both on the night and later as the feedback from our team and families came through. The win is attributable to every member of this outstanding team and whilst we cannot claim to know why the judges chose Bowfell House, we believe our strong family ethos, our determination to work openly and honestly in every interaction and our values base of compassion and excellence are reflected in everything the team takes on. The passion and dedication with which everyone works and supports our residents and families is clear.

Claire says that sharing the news with the team was an incredible experience. One member of the team, Julianne said:

Having the awards provides recognition for all the hard work and dedication that staff provide in their everyday roles here at Bowfell. The awards also provide a sense of achievement and makes us proud to work for a care home that provides outstanding care.

The team at Bowfell House hope the impact on the people they support and their families will be a positive one, reassuring them that Bowfell House can deliver excellent levels of compassionate care.

They were also delighted to see positive comments about the award win shared by families of the people they support on their Facebook page.

The face of health and social care has changed immeasurably over the last two and a half years, but our team have remained resilient, focussed and, above all else, caring. It is this wholesome approach that has allowed us to excel. People will always remain at the heart of what we do, and we are now looking forward to celebrating this award with our team, our people, to show them that all their hard work has been recognised.
